Advanced Silversmithing

Duration: 24 hours - 3 hours a night for 8 weeks
Cost: $215.00 (plus HST)

Come every Thursday night from 6:30 – 9:30 for eight weeks and take your silversmithing skills to the next level. Some of the techniques covered will be doming, hollow forms, fusing, tube making; pearl, gypsy and tube settings, and more. These techniques will be demonstrated, and you will be guided through practice pieces, then encouraged to incorporate some of your new found knowledge into your future designs.

Required Tools:

  • 4" jeweler’s saw frame
  • 6" 1/2 round file – 2 cut
  • 6" Ring file – 4 cut
  • 2- file handles
  • 4-cut needle file(square or round)
  • 1 doz 3/0 saw blades
  • 1 pair – AA Tweezers
  • Solder Pick
  • Bezel/Prong Pusher
  • Emery paper and polishing paper
  • Set of drill bits
  • Assorted craytex and burs
  • Digital or Vernier calipers
  • Round nose pliers
  • Half round nose pliers
  • Flat nose pliers
  • Chain nose pliers
  • Dividers
  • Center punch
  • Rawhide mallot
  • Ring clamp
  • Setting bur (project specific)
  • Sterling silver
  • Cabochon stone
  • Facetted stone
  • Bezel wire

Additional materials may be required

You’ll also need a notebook and pen or pencil, and a small toolbox for carrying around your goodies!
