Elementary Jewellery Making

Duration: 10 hours - 5 hours each over two days

Come for this 2-day course if you like making jewellery, but have never tried working with silver before or if you are a beginner silversmith who is still learning about tools and simply made (though not simple looking) jewelry pieces that are available to be created with the basic techniques. You will see a range of demos on simple texturing, stamping, fold forming, soldering, polishing, using professional findings, making your own designer findings; jump ring-, headpin- and toggle-making; learn about qualities of different metals and what they can be used for; get an introduction to tools that can help you with designing your own unique jewellery. No previous jewellery making experience is needed.

Tools and Materials may include but are not limited to:

  • 1- 4" Jeweler’s Saw Frame

  • 1 doz 3/0 Saw Blades

  • 1 – Center punch

  • 1 – drill bit (1.00 mm)

  • 1- 6" 1/2 Round file – 2 cut (and a file handle)

  • Pliers: Round Nose Pliers, Flat Nose Pliers, Chain Nose Pliers

  • Silver and/or Copper and/or Brass Wire and sheet
