Introduction to Prong Setting

This two day course gives you an extensive understanding of how to set a faceted stone in a prong setting. Several types of prongs and basket settings will be covered. Go home confident that you can make a prong setting! Previous knowledge of Silversmithing is required.

  • 1- Sawframe with 3/0 Blades
  • 1- 6" Half-Round 2 cut File with Handle
  • 1- Set Medium Needle Files (Set must include a barrette or safe-edge file)
  • 1- Round Nose Pliers
  • 1- Flat Nose Pliers
  • 1- Chain Nose Pliers
  • 1- Half-Round Pliers
  • 1- Wire Cutters
  • 1- Twist Drill Set
  • 1- Scriber
  • 1- Center Punch
  • 1- Ball Pein Hammer
  • 1- Rawhide Mallet
  • 3 Sheets- Emery Paper: "1" "0" "2/0"
  • 1- Dividers
  • 1- Bezel Pusher
  • 1- Burnisher
  • Setting burrs and/or Hart burrs (size depends on project)
  • Project Specific Sterling Silver, including round wire, sheet, etc (Please inquire for more detailed information)
  • Faceted Stones
  • Cabochon Stones (optional)
