Lost Wax Casting

* PLEASE NOTE* There is  a maximum of 30 grams of silver per cast, this class is intended for jewellery pieces only.

This course runs for 5 Sundays in a row and teaches everything you need to know to carve wax, cast it, and finish it. Learn how to go from a chunk of wax to a masterpiece!

Required  Tools and Materials :

  • 1- Strong Exacto knife with long blade
  • 1- Vulcrylic wax carving file
  • Sawframe and spiral sawblades (or skip-a-tooth blades)
  • Needle files or fine wax files (never used on metal)
  • Carving Wax: Jr. Wax Kit
  • Dental tool set
  • Needle probe
  • Investment (1lb)
  • Alcohol lamp with 1/4 inch wick
  • Methyl Alcohol
  • Wax Pen
  • Silver casting grain
  • #2 sawblades (or sprue cutters)
  • Plus: Your usual metal finishing tools
