Tumblers
We carry the Lortone brand of tumblers. The smaller tumblers offer 1 lb. to 4 lb. capacities. Each is quiet, sturdy, simple to operate, and delivers excellent results. All feature the patented LORTONE moulded rubber barrel with a quick-seal closure and continuous-duty fan-cooled motor. UL and CSA approved. One year warranty!!
Tumblers are usually used to polish rocks, but they also make for a convenient way to polish jewellery.
Each size of tumbler requires that you fill the barrel 3/4 to 7/8 full of rock. You cannot tumble polish one rock -- the action of tumbling is rocks-on-rocks. Your access to the necessary amount of rock should be taken into account when choosing your size of tumbler. If you come back from a weekend trip with a 5 gallon bucket of rocks -- consider the larger tumblers!! If you come back with a pocketful of rocks, the smaller sizes are more suitable to your needs.
NOTE: "Soap" is the only safe way to clean your tumbler and rocks, and Ivory Soap is one of the only *true* soaps still on the market. The QT12 is the largest tumbler available on a regular basis. (If you would like to do more, larger rocks, 20 lb. and 40 lb. tumblers are available by special order. These are built by Lortone when ordered, so there may be a small delay in getting these sizes for you.) The QT12 requires 12 lbs. of rock and, again, a mixture of sizes is necessary to get the best polish on your rocks.
